Hawaii Interpreting Services

Mission Statement

To enhance communication access for Deaf, hard of hearing, and Deaf-blind people of Hawaii through the provision of the highest quality of interpreting and captioning services on all islands.

Quality Assurance

Hawaii Interpreting Services (HIS) assures the highest quality of customer service.  HIS screens each sub-contractor, verifying their certification with national and state agencies, educational background, as well as TB test clearance and HIPPA compliance for requiring agencies (such as hospitals and schools.)  Consumers of HIS services benefit from interpreting and captioning skills matched to the specific needs.

Hawaii Interpreting Services was founded in 2007. Judy Coryell, a founding member, laid the groundwork for the services we provide today. Jenny Blake, one of the first schedulers. Helped HIS grow with her experience and strong ties to the Hawaii Deaf community.

Since 2008, Renee Shimizu has been our scheduler. Her dedication to customer service and hard work make her an indispensable part of the HIS team.
