 REQUESTING A SERVICE?

(Interpreter, Captioner, CAN): For first time requests, a SERVICE AGREEMENT must be signed and returned to us prior to the start of services. Our turnaround time is quick and easy.  You have many options in which to make a request:

*INFORMATION NEEDED: Appointment date, time, location (with full address), type of request (i.e. medical legal, meeting, etc.) appointment topic, name(s) of Deaf clients, on-site contact person, and name of where the invoice should be sent to.

*Client login: if you would like a client login to our scheduling program, let us know and we will be happy to provide one for you.

VIDEO REMOTE INTERPRETING (VRI)

Interpreters and captioners can provide services remotely via a variety of  video conferencing software i.e. Zoom, Webex etc. so that the Deaf individuals and businesses are able to communicate via a remote location. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about this option.

CERTIFIED DEAF INTERPRETER (CDI) /DEAF INTERPRETER (DI)

CDIs are highly visual language specialists- they do more than just interpret into ASL or gestures. They are expert native users of visual cues and language codes, including, but not limited to the following: American Sign Language (ASL), Signed Exact English (SEE), Gestures, Fingerspelling, other sign languages and systems, facial  expressions, body language, writing. drawing, lipreading, and specially trained in socio-cultural cues. They bring with them their native skills as well as a shared cultural experience with the client. The services of CDIs can be critical for ensuring full access when working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Deaf-Blind individuals who are involved in but not limited to: legal proceedings, recent immigrants, holding multiple disabilities, or demonstrating atypical language.  If you are unsure as to whether you require a CDI team, please contact us and our staff can help you. WHAT LANGUAGES DO YOU PROVIDE INTERPRETERS FOR?

Hawai’i Interpreting Services (HIS) specializes in American Sign Language interpretation and Real-Time Captioning services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind people.  We also work with interpreters who are fluent in Hawaiian, Japanese, Korean Sign Language, and some European signed languages.
